Olá ComUnidade! A Empresa CrossBow é a fabricante dos chips MICA e MICAZ, que são os mais usados (pelo menos na academia) para implementação e testes de redes de sensores sem fio. Essa semana eles lançaram uma nova geração de motes (os nós, que além de sensores, tem processador, memória e capacidade de comunicação sem fio), o Imote2, uma nova geração dos primeiros motes, já que os nós de uma rede geralmente são bem pouco capazes computacionalmente (pouco processador, memória, etc). Os motes mais poderosos poderão agentar aplicacões mais robustas e ter melhor desempenho. Só continua aquele probleminha da bateria (acabando a bateria, lá se vai nossa bela aplicação de sensoriamento remoto)....! |

Mais uma nova sigla para nossa “sopa de letrinhas”: WSAN.
WSAN significa Wireless Sensor and Actor Networks (Redes de Sensores e Atores sem fio).
Essas redes são capazes de observar o mundo físico, processar dados, tomar decisões baseadas nas observações realizadas e realizar ações apropriadas.Atores (ou atuadores) são as entidades que agem na rede.
Mas qual a diferença de uma WSAN para uma WSN (Wireless Sensor Network), já que as duas usam sensores em rede sem fio?
Vejamos algumas diferenças: - Enquanto sensores são pequenos, baratos, e possuem capacidade limitada de processamento e comunicação, os atores são nós ricos (em recursos), equipados com processadores melhores e com maior tempo de vida.
- Em uma WSN, o número de sensors pode chegar a milhões. Numa WSAN, devido a diferentes requisitos de cobertura e métodos de interação, o número de atores é bem menor do que de sensores.
- Em uma WSAN é necessário ter mecanismos de coordenação de distribuição local entre sensores e atuadores.
